Handbell Ringers

The Church has a set of 13 handbells which are thought to be about 100 years old, and a small team of ringers who meet in Church on Thursday mornings to practise.

We love to play for weddings, where we can provide a memorable celebration as the bride and groom come out of the Church.  A team of 4 ring a joyous peal on 8 handbells, with a number of changes.  They play whilst the bride and groom are having their photos taken outside the West door, or, if raining, play inside the Church after the final organ voluntary.

We also play hymn tunes as well as rounds and changes at some Church services, and play secular tunes to groups such as old people’s homes around the area, which are always well received.  We are particularly busy at Christmas.

We have built up a repertoire of tunes that have been adapted for the range of bells that we have.
